Down Economy - Jewelry Buying Tips

We are going through tough times in fashion and life this winter season. I love fine jewelry and everything about it but I don’t know if it is a good idea to buy luxuries in this economic crunch. But wait… there are ways to shop smarter. Given below are a few tips to shop in a smart way this season:

  • Look for gemstone jewelry. It’s happening and costs significantly less than diamonds.
  • Choose larger stones when buying gemstones like citrine, aquamarine, amethyst etc. Larger stones are the hot look this season and the mentioned stones are easily available in large sizes in reasonable prices.
  • If you plan to buy ruby, sapphire or emerald, choose smaller stones with diamond accents. The small diamonds will make your jewelry look larger, luxurious and will not cost much.
  • Look for cluster settings – larger look with less cost.
  • You might also choose 18k white gold instead of platinum or look at 14k white gold to go easy on your pocket.

So economic meltdown or economic crunch, there are always ways to shop smart. For fashion enthusiasts like me, I can compromise on the style or design but not quality. I mean it’s weird to imagine giving my mom a fashion ring worth 20 something for Christmas. It’s not about the money but about the value of my gift.
